Course Overview

Purpose

The IWCF Level 2 Well Intervention Pressure Control course provides the foundational knowledge required for personnel entering well intervention and well services operations. It introduces the essential principles of pressure control, equipment function, and safe operating practices, preparing candidates for their first IWCF certification and for progression into more advanced operational roles.

Level 2 is designed for individuals who are new to well intervention activities or who require a formal introduction to pressure control concepts before moving on to Level 3 or Level 4 training.

What the Course Covers

The syllabus follows the IWCF Level 2 requirements and includes:

Fundamentals of Well Control
Well Integrity Basics
Influx Characteristics and Behaviour
Introduction to Shut-In Procedures
Basic Well-Kill Concepts
Completion Equipment Overview
Barrier Philosophy (Introductory Level)
Wireline Operations (Optional)
Coiled Tubing Operations (Optional)
Snubbing Operations (Optional)

Candidates must select at least one optional module relevant to their operational role.

Prerequisites

  • Candidates must be pre-registered with IWCF and provide a valid 6-digit IWCF Candidate Registration (CR) Number.
  • Prior IWCF certification is not required, but experience in an operator role during well services operations is assumed.
